SPECS TO CHUCK CONTROLLER TYPE iBUET

1921 is the year that Braillon started manufacturing its first electromagnetic coils. The Braillon electromagnetic chuck rectifier has come a long way in the last 100 years. If you have an electromagnetic chuck, any brand any type, then we can help control it. From 150Watts to 6600Watts, 220Vac to 480Vac, we got the right magnet controls for you.

How TO SELECT THE RIGHT magnet CONTROLLER

Selecting the right control unit for an electromagnet is crucial, and it involves a few important steps. To ensure optimal performance, you need to consider the rated voltage and current of the electromagnet, which directly affect the power supply needed. Additionally, you need to decide if the electromagnet needs to switch on and off automatically or be traditionally controlled. For automatic control, consider using a programmable logic controller (PLC).

Moreover, the controller should provide adequate protection to safeguard the electromagnet during operation. This includes overload protection, overvoltage protection, and short-circuit protection, among other safety features. Finally, you should take into account the application and any specific requirements, such as operating temperature.

If you are unsure about how to select the right control unit for your electromagnet, it is best to consult with an expert at Braillon Magnetic systems Inc. By doing so, you can ensure that your electromagnet operates safely and efficiently for an extended period.

We want to help you determine what the correct magnetic controller for your needs. We have provided a couple calculators that should help start  with the process.

TIP! If you have multiple electromagnetic chucks setup in parallel and you need help calculating the total resistance, then check out our Parallel resistance calculator.

1 Ohm's Law
1. Ohm's law calculator will help you fill in the blank, if you are missing either:
  • Voltage (V)
  • Current (I)
  • Resistance (R).
  • The law is simply V=IxR.
2 Power Calc.
2. Power Calculator will allow you to calculate the Wattage you are dealing with.
  • Watts = Volts x Amps.
3 Done!
3. Now you have all the info you need! JUST pick the correct rectifier for you.
  • Example... Chuck =110VDC X 3Amps =330 Watt.
  • So, you will need the Model iBUET340.

WhY PICK OUR CHUCK CONTROLLER

The following points describe the advantage of the Braillon electromagnetic chuck control units:

1. OPERATE DIFFERENT DESIGNS AND BRANDS

Braillon electromagnetic control units have a microprocessor capable of saving several programs. This enables the operation of multiple types magnetic chucks & lifting magnets of different designs or manufacturers. Wattage capabilities range from 340 Watts up to 6600 Watts. Check out our line of electromagnetic chucks for surface grinding here.

2. TOTAL DEMAGNETIZATION

Demagnetization cycles are optimized for each type of magnetic chuck. Total Demagnetization is an option for all electromagnetic chucks.  It is also possible to customize them on request using a USB key. Up to 10 different programs can be saved to the control unit rectifier. Use our T20 Remote control that has an integrated screen to easily navigate all saved programs.

3. MACHINE INTERFACE

All BRAILLON MAGNETICS control units integrate an interface allowing them to command and control the magnetic chucks from the PLC machine. Output machine security data is available to check the correct operation of the magnetic chuck.

4. OFFSITE REMOTE ASSITANCE

The new MC 20 control unit allows our technicians to make a remote diagnosis in the event of a possible malfunction or in order to improve the configuration of the magnetic chuck control unit. Example: improvement of demagnetization according to customer parts and needs.

5. ADJUSTABLE SETTINGS BY USB KEY

USB access is integrated on the MC 20 board, it allows you to configure the control unit and also to save all the data information (history and errors). The key can also be used to modify the parameters in order to improve the functions of a magnet: the magnetism, the residual magnetism, the demagnetization time as well as the functions of the control unit.

6. CONTROL UP TO 8 MAGNETIC CHUCKS

The MC20 control units allow you to control up to 8 electro-permanent magnetic chucks at the same time.

If we have the spare parts to your particular controller, then we are happy to repair or help point you the right direction. Recently, many customers have been searching for parts or replacements to their Electro-Matic of Chicago controllers. We have been able to help customers that have such control units as the minatron, neutrofier, neutrol, neutrofier ii, neutrofier 2, neutrofier 3, neutrofier iii. We have soltions any other type of control units.

Electromagnetic controllers are responsible for changing AC into DC for electromagnetic chucks. It also allows the operator to use variation of force which controls the strength of the magnetic field that is created by the coils in electromagnetic chucks. This allows the operator to use a potentiometer and precisely adjust the holding force of the electromagnetic chuck.
Electromagnetic chuck control units are expected to work constantly to change AC into DC for the magnetic chuck. If, there is a loss of electricity then it also means no magnetic field is being created by the coils inside the magnetic chuck. In contrast the electro-permanent chuck control unit is only needed during the magnetizing or Demagnetizing of electro-permanent magnetic chuck.
The short answer is yes. The two terms control unit and rectifier are interchangeable. They both take Alternating Current (AC) and turn it into Direct current (DC) for electromagnetic chucks or lifting magnets.
